Naturescape at Kings Park: Utilising nature inspired recreational spaces for physical development, health, and wellbeing.
Nature Play WA invites you to join them, Thriving Through Nature (Occupational Therapists) and Cath Fitz OT at the world class Rio Tinto Naturescape at Kings Park Education to explore the endless opportunities that nature-based recreation spaces offer for physical development, health and wellbeing. Be inspired by one of the world’s largest and most beautiful inner-city parks and the opportunities that the Naturescape space offers for kids of all ages.
Participants will see firsthand a leading example of nature-based spaces created especially for children. The expert team will walk participants through the Naturescape space and focus on aspects of design (nature inspired and built) and the opportunities that the elements offer for physical development, health, and wellbeing. Participants will hear how Kings Park and partner organisations activate the space and the benefits and challenges it presents. There will be time for questions, conversations and bird spotting as we walk along pathways through and around play spaces, trees and water.
Participants will be walking through the space and are encouraged to wear suitable shoes and clothing for the weather. Participants won’t be required to get wet or dirty, but are welcome to dip a toe in the refreshing stream of water if they please.
