Align with ASPA Advocacy: Review of the Australian Sports Commission Act 1989

Calling all physical activity advocates in Australia

If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to join the fight to increase population-level physical activity, but don’t have much time on your hands—now is your chance. The ASPA Advocacy Committee are calling on YOU, individuals and organisations, to align with ASPA in responding to the Review of the Australian Sports Commission Act 1989.

Align with ASPA—what does that mean?

In our submission response to the Review of Australian Sports Commission Act, we are advocating for the addition of an objective to the revised Act that calls for an increase in population-level physical activity in Australia. Specifically, ASPA recommends that there should be a specific objective to encourage participation in physical activity and sport to improve community wellbeing.

We are asking you to:

  1. Submit a response to the Review of the Australian Sports Commission Act
  2. Align your response with ours by advocating for increases in population-level physical activity

But I don’t have much time!

We understand that your time is limited, so we are here to help you make the process as quick as possible. There are 19 questions in the response, however you do not have to complete all of them—we have provided step-by-step guidance below.

Follow these 5 easy steps, and you will be finished in under 5 minutes:
  1. Navigate to the Review of the Australian Sports Commission Act 1989 webpage
  2. Click on ‘online submission’
  3. Complete questions i-iii (your personal/organisational details)
  4. Complete question 2 by adding some variation of the following, ‘We/I recommend the inclusion of an additional objective to the revised Act that encourages participation in sport and active recreation to improve physical activity and community wellbeing.’  You can also read and download our full response below if you’d like further information.
  5. You may SKIP the remaining questions and submit your response. DONE!

We thank you for your time— join our efforts by sharing our social media tiles and messages below. Don’t forget to tag us! RESPONSES ARE DUE BY 12 JULY.
