ASPA announces Local Partnerships for Perth 2024

ASPA are delighted to announce Local Partnerships for the Asia-Pacific Physical Activity Conference 2024, 20-22nd November, Perth.

As key local organisations involved in the promotion of physical activity in Western Australia, ASPA have teamed up with WestCycle, Bicycles for Humanity WA and Nature Play WA.

Our Local Partners will offer activities to enhance the conference experience. For example, Bicycles for Humanity will be providing bicycles for conference delegates to use throughout the conference – to ride around the city.

WestCycle and Nature Play WA are also organising morning activities, prior to the start of the formal conference day.

Further details on activities and workshops will be announced soon via the ASPA conference website. Workshops are likely to be held in the mornings, prior to the start of the formal conference program.

Here’s what our Local Partners had to say:

Dr Georgia Scott, Active Transport Manager, Westcycle

“WestCycle is the peak body for bike riding in WA, representing anyone who rides or wants to ride a bike whether for recreation or transport.”

“The ASPA conference is a fantastic opportunity for us to engage with physical activity and transport researchers and practitioners”

“We look forward to sharing our approach to advocacy and learning from the expertise ASPA is bringing to Perth.”

David Tucker, Director, Bicycles for Humanity WA Inc.

“Bicycles for Humanity WA is a 100% volunteer charity that collects donated, pre-loved bikes, repairs them as necessary then re-distributes them to people in need in rural and remote Australia and in Africa.

“We believe our work encourages more active lifestyles in the communities we assist.”

Dr Kelsie Prabawwa-Sear, CEO, Nature Play WA

“Nature Play WA is thrilled to come onboard as a Local Partner for the 2024 Asia-Pacific Physical Activity Conference.

“We see this conference as an exciting opportunity to share experiences and exchange ideas with researchers, practitioners, and policy makers from across Asia-Pacific to enhance the work we do in supporting the mental and physical health of Western Australian children by growing their connection to nature and community through outdoor play.”
