ASPA announces Co-Host for Perth 2024 – The Australian Walking and Cycling Conference
ASPA are delighted to announce the Australian Walking and Cycling Conference (AWCC) as Co-Hosts for the Asia-Pacific Physical Activity Conference 2024, 20-22nd November, Perth.
As one of Australia’s longest running, best regarded, and most affordable active travel conferences, the AWCC brings together practitioners and researchers from Australia and across the world.
ASPA and AWCC are now calling for abstracts on walking and cycling at the conference. The AWCC Walking and Cycling Abstracts submission deadline is 01/09/2024. In this stream, we welcome abstracts on walking, cycling, and physically active mobility. Abstracts that meet the criteria will be considered for both oral and poster presentations.
There is clear alignment in the conference theme ‘Pathways to Impact’ and the goals of the Australian Walking and Cycling Conference. Specifically, AWCC explores the potential for walking and cycling to not only provide for transport and recreation — but also solutions to the challenges of liveability, physical activity, community building, economic development and sustainability.
Here’s what AWCC and ASPA had to say:
Jeremy Miller, Treasurer, Australian Walking and Cycling Conference
“The organising committee of the Australian Walking and Cycling Conference are excited to be Co-Hosts of the ASPA conference in Perth 2024.
“We anticipate that our audience will submit abstracts to share the important stories of walking and cycling advocacy, design and engagement with the ASPA attendees.”
Dr Matthew ‘Tepi’ Mclaughlin, Chair of the Local Organising Committee
“We’re delighted to secure AWCC as Co-hosts in Perth 2024 and we’re confident this will attract additional walking and cycling presentations to our physical activity conference.
“Having previously attended and organized the AWCC conference, I know how much energy and wisdom the participants of AWCC have. I am looking forward to seeing the AWCC and ASPA attendees combining.”
Dr Lisa Mackay, Co-Chair of the ASPA Scientific Programme Committee
“We are thrilled to welcome the Australian Walking and Cycling Conference as Co-Hosts for the ASPA conference in Perth 2024.
“This partnership aligns with the conference theme, ‘Pathways to Impact’, and will bring valuable insights on walking and cycling advocacy and design to the conference programme.”
